Dolce Vita and Crescent describes the attitude to life of Albanian society. Street cafés, a permissive (Italian) beach culture, and a history that is hardly known to us Western Europeans. We were and are connected with Albania, perhaps soon as a new EU member state.

DAY 1: PODGORICA – SHKODER – DURRES
Arrival by flight to Podgorica or Tirana, where our tour guides will welcome you. You will drive along Lake Shkodra via Shkodra to Durres. In the evening you will have the opportunity to take a walk along the coast to end your evening in a comfortable way. The group arriving in Tirana will join the group in Durres. Overnight in Durres.
DAY 2: DURRES – BERAT (UNESCO)
After breakfast, you will visit the city, the amphitheater and the archaeological museum. Afterward, you continue to Berat, where a wine tasting awaits you. The evening will end in a pleasant wine mood and a traditional meal. Overnight in Overnight.
DAY 3: BERAT (UNESCO) – GJIROKASTRA (UNESCO)
In the morning is Berat, the city of 1,000 windows and in the afternoon, you will see Gjirokastra, the City of a thousand stones, on the program. From stately houses of the Ottoman era to orthodox iconostases and extensive fortifications, the two UNESCO cultural heritage sites offer everything that will delight the interested cultural traveler. Overnight in Gjirokastra.
DAY 4: GJIROKASTRA (UNESCO) – BLUE EYE – SARANDA
We spend the fourth day in the morning in Gjirokastra and then drive towards Saranda. On the way we visit one of the most famous karst springs in Albania, the “Blue Eye” (Syri i Kalter). We continue on to Saranda, which has the flair of a typical Mediterranean tourist town. Overnight in Saranda.
DAY 5: SARANDA – BUTRINT (UNESCO) – VLORA
In the morning you visit Butrint, which is considered the most beautiful archaeological site in Albania. Here you will experience 3,000 years of history, construction, and destruction up to modern times. The journey then leads along the Albanian Riviera. A winding road takes us to beach and mountain villages with a magnificent view of the Ionian Sea and offshore Corfu. You drive up to the Llogara Pass (1,100 m above sea level), where you will enjoy homemade yogurt with honey and nuts. Further on to Vlora. The port town of Vlora is located on a large bay where we will taste freshly caught fish. Overnight in Vlora.
DAY 6: VLORA – APOLLONIA – TIRANA
On the way from Vlora to Tirana, we visit Apollonia. The ruins of the former most powerful Roman city on the Balkan Peninsula. The archaeological museum was founded in integrated the old walls of an orthodox monastery, which also includes a chapel worth seeing. Afterward, the journey continues to Tirana, the capital of the country. During a guided tour you will get to know the most important sights of the city and learn more about the young history of one of the poorest countries in Europe. We will conclude the evening with a delicious dinner and a drink in a traditional restaurant in the “Blloku” district of the city. Overnight in Tirana.
DAY 7: TIRANA – KRUJA – SHKODRA
You will use the morning of the seventh day for a concluding look at Albania’s history and the latest political and social developments. On the way after Shkodra, we visit Kruja and the castle Rozafa. Two fortifications, which are of great importance for the history of Albania. Kruja was the seat of Skanderbeg, the national hero of the Albanians, who occupied the Ottoman army for years. Overnight in Shkodra.
DAY 8: SHKODRA – AIRPORT (PODGORICA/TIRANA)
On the last day of your tour, you will drive from Shkodra to the airport in Podgorica or Tirana, where you will start your journey home.
