Durrës, founded in the 7th century B.C., under the name of Epidamnos, is the second largest city in Albania, one of the oldest and economically most important cities in Albania and is home to the country’s main port. Durrës served as Albania’s capital from 1914 to 1920, and the city includes the Old City Walls, also known as Durrës Castle. While you might think that the largest amphitheater in the Balkans is in Greece, you can find it here near the port.
